We went on a few day trips too. We went to Dalyman one day. We saw the ladies making amazing Turkish carpets. Showing the different qualities and prices depending on the number of knots. We then went to visit the mud baths. So we all went into the mud pools. Caked it on our skin. Dried it off in the sun. Washed it off in the showers. Then got sprayed with sulphur which I opted out of as it smells of rotten eggs but apparently good for your skin. We also went on a boat journey to see the loggerhead turtles. They are a protected species. They were virtually impossible to see. However, some guy on another boat had caught one and was trying to lift it out of the water. You are not allowed to do that obviously. So our tour guide was shouting at the guy to let it go. We also sailed to the beach but it was 3pm by that point and I couldn’t put my feat on the sand for the burning heat. So just sat under the shade munching ice lollies. Lol

We went to Ephesus one day. It was a 3 hour drive but worth it. For those who don’t know it was an ancient Greek City, then later Roman City. People like Cleopatra and Emperor Hadrian visited there. Also Ephesus held one of the seven wonders of the ancient world the Temple of Artemis. The place was spectacular. Reminded me a bit like Pompeii except no ash. It was just ruined by take overs, earthquakes, museums etc. It had a massive amphitheatre. I honestly although there is only part of it left think that’s bigger than the one in Rome. Although we only drove passed the coliseum and didn’t get a chance to view the inside. Maybe that’s a one to google. When I mean size, I meant the one in Ephesus if it had been intact. It was soo hot looking around I melted with everyone else. Shade hopping where possible. After we went to this place where they made Turkish Bowls. So we basically saw the hole process of how they made them, painted them etc. I actually bought one was they were so pretty and I knew they were high quality. So a tiny bowl cost me 45 lire which is just over £20.

Speaking of money Turkey is not cheap. We spent the equivalent of £30-£45 per person for meals and drinks out that are like not worth it. We did a big oops one night. This guy on the beach talked us in to coming to his restaurant. It was a dinner and show. Another drag show. It must be a popular thing there. The guy said he would get a taxi to pick us up free of charge from our hotel and return us too. Warning signals should have kicked in but we were like sure. So we were waiting outside our hotel. Then we were like, this is prob a bad idea getting into some random car. However, we got in. Another couple got in so that uneasy feeling left. We got there. The food was crap. It cost us a fortune and the show was scraping the barrel of comedy. Vulgar, disgusting- not even funny and I have the widest sense of humor. So we left feeling annoyed and ripped off. That was the night our waiters wanted to go for drinks with us on Bar Street. So we walked along a bit too early. As they probably didn’t finish work till 12pm. Anyway we clocked the prices of drinks 8 Euros and up. I was like no way can they afford that. Then it dawned on me they probably expected us to pay. So we just left.

We went to Rhodes for the day as the island was just 45 minutes. A beautiful place with a castle, ruins, nice beaches and plenty of shops and restaurants. Lots of complements that day too. hehe It was interesting the difference in heat. There it was hot but without the humidity. Turkey is like a roasting oven. There was a guy who had this parrot outside his restaurant. So I was naturally drawn to it. Next thing he puts it on my hand the thing wanted in the shade and I thought it was going to take a nose dive to the ground. Nicola took a photo of me and the photo is sooo funny. As the guy is like staring at me. Pictures speak a thousand words.

I think that’s pretty much it of my stories. Well of what I can think of. I missed out Happy Terry and his sofa free for us if we want it. The sofa was outside his shop where he promised quality vodka. Lol So many offers. Boat rides to anywhere. Lol So many funny stories. So many poor cats. We fed one in the hotel. I didn’t get to go swimming with dolphins as after the other trips £100 for 20 minutes seemed a bit of a rip off. I’m sure there are better deals around the world.

Thanks for reading. The End ;-) ( Not checked over spelling etc so oops)

Sarah :-)

Yeah I don't mind chat but don’t like to be grabbed. I actually forgot to mention when we were coming away from our visit to the castle in Marmaris, there was this little shop on the corner on the pathway down to the town. There was this old lady with a shawl wrapped round her wanting me to buy something, I was walking by and the woman grabbed me. I was like no than you. Thinking definitely not buying anything now. So I walked away thinking bet I've been cursed now. Jokingly. I even said that to Nicola.

So that night as I was getting prepped for a night out. I forgot I had my razor in my toiletry bag. So I had my hand in and my finger got sliced deeply and badly. I just came stumbling out the bathroom shouting Nicola I’ve heart my finger badly, open the suitcase to get the plasters. Honestly, my finger was a bloody mess. I couldn't even apply pressure to it. So just stuck a plaster on. Then another later.

The day after that I developed a heat rash on my face. I was soo annoyed. Thank god for benefits confessions of a concealaholic Nicola brought with her. However, still had bumpy skin. Aftersun cured that. I thought that will keep the Turks away but I guess it was more obvious to me than anybody else.

Then I had tummy troubles. Although it did not spoil my holiday.
I was tempted to go back to the old lady and say fine I'll buy something. Hehe.

I have not made my way to that part of the world yet.

When I was in Italy, and oddly enough, Tasmanina too..I keep getting people commenting on my hair and wanting to touch it. Sort of creepy.
Men is other parts of the world do seem eager to chat up foreigners.

Id like to think its because I am so alluring,,instead of it just because i'm " different" but Im not that delusional..lol
Still, it is fun to have so much attention.

I've not actually and have quite fancied going. I've been to Tunisia before. Just further across. Have you been to Morocco?

Thanks Michelle! :-)

Yeah I think for those places its best to team up. I wouldn't of liked to wonder on my own. However, I will miss all the chat ups. Guys are just not like that here.

Aww that was a sweet deal with the captain and your sister. The power of women huh?

I would of loved to have gone to Istanbul Sophia but that was too far north. I think Turkey is more used to tourists now. Although they like blonde hair. There are alot of blondes there. Still can be a bit touchy feely but quite a few guys I encountered were quite respectful like kissed your hand and asked your name. Very gentleman like. Most of it is all just business really. Make you smile, grab a sale.

Thanks for sharing, Sarah. Sounds like a great trip. Two attractive  women, especially blondes, travelling alone in Middle Eastern countries are sure to run into some unique situations. Give it a couple of months and you and your friend will be laughing about the whole thing. When I was your age I used to frequently travel with my younger sister. It was a neat situation as I used her for bait and she considered me her security. We went on a Greek cruise once and the captain of the ship fell in love with her; or so he said. We ate every meal at his table and everything on the ship was free to us. I remember to this day that his name was Captain George. Those old trips were a lot of fun. Now I tend to travel more upscale. I am glad you are back safe and sound...
